Paderborn's Kilian tests positive for Covid-19 - First case in Germany's first division
SC Paderborn 07's Luca Kilian has been tested positive for the novel coronavirus, the club announced on Friday night. Kilian becomes the first player in Germany's first division to be tested positive for Covid-19.
In response to Kilian testing positive, all players and staff will undergo tests on Saturday morning. "The health of our players and staff comes first," director of sport Martin Przondziono said on Friday. "We will do everything to keep the disease in check and provide our players and staff with the best possible medical care."
Previously three Bundesliga 2 players, Hannover 96's Timo Hübers and Jannes Horn as well as Nürnberg's Fabian Nürnberger, were tested positive for Covid-19. Killian together with his teammates was supposed to face Fortuna Düsseldorf on Friday but matchday 26 was canceled by DFL (the governing body that oversees the two top divisions) in response to building public pressure.
